Pure Toast Episode 5: Roomate Robert

Introducing Roomate Robert (we aren't allowed to say his last name)! In this episode we talk about gold, my fellow vikings, and how awesome my name is. It was a lot of fun to have Robert on the show, so we'll definitely have him on every now and then.

We've got a short interview with our friend Melissa and talk about some (hopefully) upcoming interviews. I mention a bit about Never Not Funny as well.

Phone Call

Friends from my hometown claimed last night that they are calling in soon; I even wrote it down so I wouldn't forget.

In other news I made it onto Jawbone Radio Episode #146!

Pure Toast Episode 4: Apologies and Dinosaurs.

In this episode:

"Craig apologizes to a friend; plus we were able to get an exclusive interview with a brachiosaurus! We also talk a bit about podcasts that Craig listens to. Sorry about the buzzing sound. No money = crappy sound."

Here are the links to the podcasts we talk about:

The Sound of Young America
Jawbone Radio
The Best Show on WFMU

We forgot to mention how to contact us at the end of the show...
(509) 293 4983 or PureToast@gmail.com
If you're reading the blog you probably already knew that, but I feel stupid for leaving it out of the show.

New Listener

A friend in Walla Walla listened to the show, and this is all he had to say.

Dream Submission

Got a few great dream submissions already (which we requested in Episode 3)! This one from Shane was too good not to share: I work at Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse now, which kind of needs to be known for this dream. I and the entire Lowe’s store I work with were being featured on a special episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. (If you don't know the story line of the show, a craptastic house gets ripped down and replaced with a new one in one week, being revealed to the family by moving a bus on the command "Driver, move that bus.") So we were finishing up the last of this monstrosity--somehow I knew it was the biggest home ever built on the show. It was made of brown stone with a roof that looked kind of like a title wave, being convexed on one side of the house and concaved on the other. As the bus pulled into place, the entire store climbed on top of the roof, the porch, and anywhere else they could fit. The family arrived, and the traditional "Driver, move that bus!" was shouted. However, instead of screams of joy, only a loud rumble and shrieks of terror were heard as the entire structure imploded. I was the soul survivor of the building team and grabbed member of the audience to form a spelunking team to dive into the vortex that had replace the one enormous house and try to find anyone. In the end I saved only my manager.
Thanks Shane!

Pure Toast Episode 3: Ocho Gauge

Episode 3! In this episode we read and listen to a handful of listener mail (including a brilliant synopsis of The Princess Bride), talk about Ben's "ocho gauge" piercing, discuss wearing neckties with hoodzips, and hear some music from Jonathan Coulton and ocremix.org.

I also mention a bit about Jawbone Radio and The Sound of Young America, two of my favorite podcasts.

Send us your dreams and tell us what you think we should do with the giant spool that Robert "salvaged" from being thrown away. What should we do about our phone number? GWUD? IZUF? HYVE? Also if you have any idea how to contact a brachiosaurus, any information would be great.

GWUD, IZUF, or HYVE?

I've been thinking this over for a while. I want a catchy phone number because saying (509) 293 4983 just doesn't say "CALL ME!" like it should. It's certainly no 669 DOUG. So here are the combinations that I like. But feel free to suggest some others.

293 GWUD
I think this one is my favorite. "GWUD" just seems like it would be a lot of fun to say on a regular basis and it would definitely stick in your head. Who wouldn't want to call 293 GWUD?

293 IZUF
This could be either "Is-Uff" ("uff" pronounced like the end of the word enough) or "Eye-Zoof." Both are pretty good, but I'm not sure that it's quite as rad as "GWUD."

293 HYVE
Now this one isn't bad either. "HYVE" gives you the feeling that we're all part of one friendly community; a hive if you will. Also we might inadvertently attract a lot of fans of that Swedish rock band, The Hives. I can't say I know their music, but more listeners = awesome. But then at the same time people might be confused and think they're calling the "I've-got-hives-and-need-serious-help" hotline. We're not a hives hotline.

¿Qúe piensan? Tell us what you think. If no one has an opinion I'll probably go with GWUD.

Pure Toast Episode 2: Pop Culture n00bs

In this episode we discuss our immediate popularity, "Robert's" soccer ball, movies you can purchase at Wal-Mart, and sales tax exemption. You'll also hear a new introduction from our friend Teddy, and some of the best and worst decisions we've ever made.

Now that we've recorded two episodes and I've had to listen to my own voice for long periods of time while editing, I've noticed that my lisp is much more pronounced than I had originally thought. Perhaps next week we'll talk about my options are for curing my speech problems. If you have any experience with speech therapy, let us know what you think!
